Subset feedback vertex sets in chordal graphs
Given a graph G = (V, E) and a set S ⊆ V , a set U ⊆ V is a subset feedback vertex set of (G, S ) if no cycle in G[V \ U] contains a vertex of S . The Subset Feedback Vertex Set problem takes as input G, S , and an integer k, and the question is whether (G, S ) has a subset feedback vertex set of cardinality or weight at most k. Both the weighted and the unweighted versions of this problem are ...
متن کاملFeedback Vertex Set Inspired Kernel for Chordal Vertex Deletion
Given a graph G and a parameter k, the Chordal Vertex Deletion (CVD) problem asks whether there exists a subset U ⊆ V (G) of size at most k that hits all induced cycles of size at least 4. The existence of a polynomial kernel for CVD was a well-known open problem in the field of Parameterized Complexity. Recently, Jansen and Pilipczuk resolved this question affirmatively by designing a polynomi...
متن کاملComplement of Special Chordal Graphs and Vertex Decomposability
In this paper, we introduce a subclass of chordal graphs which contains $d$-trees and show that their complement are vertex decomposable and so is shellable and sequentially Cohen-Macaulay.
متن کاملPolynomial-Time Algorithms for the Subset Feedback Vertex Set Problem on Interval Graphs and Permutation Graphs
Given a vertex-weighted graph G = (V,E) and a set S ⊆ V , a subset feedback vertex set X is a set of the vertices of G such that the graph induced by V \ X has no cycle containing a vertex of S. The Subset Feedback Vertex Set problem takes as input G and S and asks for the subset feedback vertex set of minimum total weight. In contrast to the classical Feedback Vertex Set problem which is obtai...
متن کاملFeedback Vertex Set in Mixed Graphs
A mixed graph is a graph with both directed and undirected edges. We present an algorithm for deciding whether a given mixed graph on n vertices contains a feedback vertex set (FVS) of size at most k, in time 2k!O(n). This is the first fixed parameter tractable algorithm for FVS that applies to both directed and undirected graphs.
